I Know I'm Being Irrational, But...

Hey, so as a follow up to the post "I'm Here" do you want to hear something that nearly caused me to fall out of bed when I saw it on Facebook?

Of course you do.

Alright so if you remember from that post, as I'm sure you do, my family throws an INSANE 4th of July party... it's huge... people come from all over... yadda yadda yadda (just click here if you want the rest of the story).

Ok so anyway take a look at the pictures I am going to post below. I know that you have already seen them in the post "the life that is lived here," and I'm sure you are tired of looking at pictures from where my family lives, but look at them again anyway. They were all taken at my family's houses, (aka the house that I lived in for a while or that other various family members own — yes, multiple family members live in the same neighborhood).

My Ex

My Ex and my Bestie's husband fishing off the dock of the house I lived in.

My kids at the house I lived in

My kids with my aunt

Alright, so we've seen that, right? And why am I showing you them again?

Because imagine my surprise when I saw the pictures below pop up on Facebook!! They were posted by one of the chiropractors whose office I work at on Mondays and were captioned "great fireworks tonight!"

UM... DO THE HOUSES IN THE BACKGROUND LOOK FAMILIAR TO YOU??

YEAH I KNOW.

He was "at" my family's party!! WTF!! Ok, ok, he was actually with his friend on his friend's boat, who was (as everyone else in the neighborhood does), bumming off my family's fireworks show, BUT STILL.

THAT IS TOO CLOSE FOR ME.

And then, to top it off, I found out the next day that the other chiropractor in the office was ALSO on the same lake at a different party to see my family's fireworks.

STOP!!

I feel like an absolute psycho but I don't want my family anywhere near people. MY PEOPLE!!

It took me a long time to find good people, so I would appreciate it if my family would stay away from my people (even by unintentional default)!

I know that technically this is not my family's fault, but I'm just going to ignore that small detail for now.

And that's pretty much it.

This post was brought to you by an irrational version of the Eden who usually writes here.

Thanks for stopping by.

  1. I can totally see how that's unsettling to you. Yes it is irrational, byt yiu are human and humans aren't always rational. Just proves its a small world.

  3. It's ok to be irrational when your family are a bunch of psychotic jerks. :D

  4. I completely understand the fear here. I recently found out that my sister in law unknowingly plays with a granddaughter of my adoptive parents who I left behind because they are mentally abusive, (possible cultish) family of creepiness. It terrifies me that they might find out where I live now because they don't take leaving the family well and both myself and my sister did. They know where I work and show up every week bothering me and trying to get info on my sister. I hope that this doesn't ripple effect you but I just want you to know that you are not alone in seemingly irrational fear.

    1. Yikes!!! Yes that would freak me out as well! We should start a club or something. I'm sure it would be a very creepy club to outsiders, but at least we could band together lol.

  5. People go to people that benefit their lives the most. You might be cute and funny, but lots of people are cute and funny. Your family has access to wealth that most peopld don't have, and thats a big draw to people. Don't be surprised if you lose a lot of friends to your family just because they can offer them more than you can.

  6. Sounds like that guy was bumming off your extended family AND his rich friend who has a boat and lives in the neighborhood, and is trying to look cool. That first picture is taken at such a "look at that nice house, people will think I'm RICH!!!!111$$$$" angle. Dude sounds like a moocher extraordinaire.

Interesting that most of your family lives in that neighborhood but your parents don't... guess your dad had to keep your mom and her crazy away from everyone else?

    1. That last part is pure speculation but I say it because that was what happened with my family, haha.

  7. Whoa. Not irrational at all. Or, maybe irrational, but I would have had the EXACT same reaction. Your people should be your people!!
