You Will Probably Get Bored Reading This, So Don't Say I Didn't Warn You

Um... where did this week go?

I mean really, WHERE IS MY LIFE GOING?

In all seriousness, this week has flown by. In fact, The Girl Child had her school musical performance a few days ago, and here, let me show you a picture.

Oh. Wait. Yea, I forgot to take any.

WHAT IS HAPPENING TO ME? I'm totally the person that takes so many pictures, that it annoys everyone around me, and yet... nothing.

I was so rushed, and felt so frazzled that night, that I completely forgot to take any pictures except a blurry one that I snapped of her entire class on the stage.

My mom of the year award should be coming any day now.

In other news, I did have an article run over on Babble, and although I shared it on Facebook, I also wanted to post it here for my email subscribers. I've gotten really bad at remembering to share my "outside" work with you on this blog, (it's so much easier just to hit "share" on Facebook), but I have to say, this article has got to be one of my favorites.

So if you missed it on Facebook, take a minute to click on the link below and check it out!

"To The Husband Who Left Me"

Other than that, I can't wait to tell you about a new writing project I'm involved in (and will tell you as soon as I can!).

The nonprofit has also been keeping me incredibly busy. As always I am excited to see the work that is being done and the lives that are being saved! Recently the organization was recognized in our community when it received a large donation, and I couldn't have been more thrilled! The money will go 100% towards covering some very specific costs that our clients incur, and I was little bit giddy about receiving our first "big check." And by "big" check, clearly I am also talking about the actual dimensions of the check.

I guess I can finally mark "receive big check" off my bucket list!, and yes, it was just as fun as it looks on TV!

Changing topics, um, the weather? What is going on here! We are swinging violently from snow one day, to 85 degrees the next day, then back down to 36 degrees the day after. Mother earth, please get it together! This is what our last two weeks have looked like, compliments of Mother Earth:

An important part of parenting, is teaching your kid how to climb a tree.

 Chalk body outlines anyone?

Friends have the coolest toys!

Doesn't every town have a touch-a-tractor event? The Boy Child got to climb on and in everything from a field combine to a crane, and you would have thought he was in Disney World from the smile plastered across his face.

Ducks like food too.

And basically, yea. This post has no specific point except to tell you "I'm sorry that I didn't write a real post, but here's a link you can click on, and I'm going to get back to work now."

Have a WONDERFUL weekend everyone!!

Peace out.

Oh yea... and I have court again on Monday.

  2. I loved to hear about your everyday (totally not boring) life! Congrats on the check and all the fun you seem to be having over there! :) I live like a light year away, but the same happened to the weather, and it was just so weird (one morning I wake up just to see that these giant snowflakes are invading the world, YUCK!). Fingers crossed it's over now! :D

    1. This weather has been INSANE! In fact right now the weather said there was an 80% chance that it would be storming. Nope! Clear as can be!

  3. You seem like an amazing woman, one your kids will be more than proud to call their mother. May God continue to bless you and your children. Keep in mind that He didn't bring you this far to just leave you here, keep the faith.

  4. I've always wanted to write something like this to my son's father. Last time he saw his son was when he was 2; he's 12 now and a great kid without him in his life.

  5. I'm about to read it, and I'm glad I'm home for the day. I'm a very empathetic crier. I could never be a therapist, I'd be crying with everyone all day unsure emoticon You're such a strong woman, I believe that sharing emotions keeps us "human".

  6. I don't see that as a sad story, I see it as a story with a remarkably happy ending, still in the making! You are an amazing, inspirational woman and should be proud of everything you have accomplished in the face of adversity.

  7. i needed to read this today. it's been almost one year since i left. i sometimes need reminding that not everything can be rebuilt overnight and i need to be more patient & forgiving with myself.

    thank you for writing!

  8. Your outlook on what happened is amazing. You always manage to find strength and trust me I know that's it's because you have no choice. Here is to the single mothers out there. We picked up the broken and trudge forward. All the while trying to hide the pieces. I truly believe children who witnessed their mothers be stronger then steel will grow up strong and loving.

  9. that is beautifully written. You did some deep reflecting to see all that had to go away so you could become. I am sorry that you had to hurt in order to do that becoming.

  11. Girl. My daughter had an end of year performance this week too. I am totally the mom to take a massive amount of pics and I didn't take even one! I ended up having her get back in costume the next day so I could get a pic. This life is fun, lol. Btw, even with the white blocks all over your face, you are gorgeous!

  13. Hum. When I transferred all the facebook comments over, it brought along all the comments from the facebook post of the article I linked in...

    Tis odd...

  14. Court....Again? Seriously? Is this the one where the grumpy old asshole judge finally yells "OFF WITH HIS HEAD!!!"?

Also....Big check is awesome. You can frame it and put it on the wall next to your stripper pole. :D

    1. That judge seems so bent out of shape and angry, that it's a miracle he hasn't had a heart attack. Seriously, this is ridiculous!

Haha! That would be awesome!!! Unfortunately they didn't let me keep in :( Whomp whomp. It was like a dry erase board kind of deal that they took back at the end. I was bummed! Would have looked amazing over my bed, or behind the desk I don't have.

  15. Man, that judge really likes you. Why do you have court again?

    1. There was a problem with the child support order, and to petition my ex to have to communicate with me through a court monitored website, so that I would have a record of everything (he claims he doesn't pay any bills because I don't send them. LIES.)

  16. Eden, you take like a million pictures of your kids all the time, no reason to feel guilty for one missed opportunity! I'm sure Girl Child did a great job and made you proud, and you guys will always have that memory. Just having you there to cheer her on is way more important than some stupid picture!

Looking forward to the court update, sounds like another huge saga :/

Oh, and congratulations on the donation to the nonprofit! I work in the nonprofit world, so I totally know the feeling of giddiness when a big donor recognizes all the important work you do and comes through with some major financial support.
