Let's Take A Minute To Look At Some Pictures Of Ferrets

Happy Thanksgiving to all my American readers!! And... Happy November to everyone else! I hope that you all had an AMAZING day! We spent the evening with my Platonic Hubby's family. It was really nice to be able to spend my first married holiday with both my new hubby, and the Platonic Hubby (friend) who has been my side kick for so long. I feel very lucky that The Guy understands that although his family is blood related, that the family I've built for myself is still every bit as much my "family," as his blood relatives are to him.

"Oh my gosh Eden, why are you showing your face now!!??"

Because then maybe people will stop trying to find pictures of me through other means. There ya go, ya want my face, that's my face... but I'm still putting a white square over part of it to help deter people from re-posting my pictures in their own online articles without my permission :)

But anyway, back to Thanksgiving, where I can never escape without letting the kids do at least one "crazy face" picture.

Which on that day, the Platonic Hubby burned her lip. Fun times.

The kids cleaned up well...

And ate enough for three people. Each.

So yep, Thanksgiving. We did it.

But anyway, did you guys know that you are amazing?

No really, you are.

I have been completely overwhelmed with the sheer amount of comments, emails, and well wishes for my recent marriage announcement, that it's really just solidified the knowledge that I have the BEST group of readers ever.

You guys rock!!

I'm in the middle of a few new posts now — some that will update you on my new married life, a couple that will continue down the healing path, and a couple that I'm hoping will make you laugh your socks right off — but since I'm still acclimating to my new life, it's been kinda busy around here. Between the new husband, and trying to find a few moments for the kids...

And a recent court date with my ex...

"I wish that I could be there with you today baby.
I'll be thinking about you all day. I love you!! XOXOXO."
-The Guy

....the posts aren't finished yet. Soooo, I'm going to cheat a bit today and leave you with a few articles that I wrote elsewhere in recent days, and hope that you will all be around when I come back with a "real" post next week.

So here we go...

Want to get the details on my surprise wedding? Read this and see how the surprise was actually on me! "I Got Remarried, And I Didn't Tell My Kids"

In honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, I took to Yahoo and shattered a few DV myths in "I Went Back To Him, To The Home I Feared I May Die In."

Speaking of Yahoo, I had an amazing time participating in their "Cool Moms" series, and got a chance to chat about how "I Write Letters To My 8 Year Old, So I Can Reach Her When She's Grown."

And lastly, this was another article that surprised me by going as viral as it did. "My Husband Is Not My Kids Step Father, He Is Their Dad."

Sooooo, that about wraps things up around here, and I'll be back next week with a new post!

But real quick, before I go, I wanted to take a second to introduce you to our newest family member ferrets.

(I promise, after this I am done surprising you with family additions.)

Please meet Franklin and George, two of the most codependent creatures I have ever met.

Frank and George came to us from a shelter, where they were awaiting their forever homes after being abused in a previous one. They needed to be kept together, but they both have some health issues, so they were available for a permanent foster situation where they could live with us permanently, while the shelter still maintains care of their needs.

Their shelter "mugshots"

How could I say no to that?

I couldn't, because in our home, health issues are the norm, and abused lives come to heal.

So far, they have been awesome! They are huge, like the size of a small cat, and spend most of their time following us around the house. George loves to snuggle, is super playful, and even plays fetch! Frank is terrified of everything, yet holds his own in a good game of tug-of-war. They are both litter box trained, and have never even come close to nipping. The kids have had a blast taking them for walks (yes, we are those crazy people), and they love getting a bath.

We are looking forward to our time with them, and along with Henry Hamster, our furry family is now complete.

Well, I guess this post was a combination of craziness, randomness, pets, family, friends, holidays, and all very much the perfect resemblance of the chaos going on in my house.

So on that note, I'll be back very soon with a new "real" post!!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!

  1. the ferrets!! AMAZING! More amazing ? The story of how you adopted. I am owned by 7 rescue cats and a rescue dog ( and just to bust the crazy cat lady myth I actually have a husband , two kids AND a clean house( oh and all my clothes match ). I loved what you wrote about a house where you heal. Nothing is more amazing than knowing you have brought comfort and love to a creature ( or person ) who forgot it existed. Perhaps in the murky future I wil get to read about a newly adopted rescue cat or a dog ;)...have a wonderful holiday !!!!!!!!

    1. They are illegal! That's crazy! You know I totally said the same thing, the "I love cats and dogs and rodents and this is perfect" and I was corrected. Not a rodent, but a weasel lol. They are from the weasel family!

Who would have thought. (not me)

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!! I hope yours was amazing :)

  3. Eden, nobody I know is more deserving of happiness than you are. May this be the beginning of a new and fantastic chapter in the ongoing story of your life. All my best wishes for you, the kids, and TheGuy!!

  4. Congratulations Eden! So, no more surprise family additions, hmm...Does that mean you and TheGuy won't be producing "genetic offspring"??? LOL!

(for anyone else who's reading, I'm not being nosy, it's a joke from a prior post!)

    1. Haha! I will not pretend to know the future, but adding a 3rd genetic offspring is not in my immediate plans :)

That surprise would definitely be on me!

  5. I had two ferrets growing up, they were awesome! If they're not fixed, get them fixed, the musky smell goes away.
